About
An entire commercial district built in 1920s Tudor Revival style — half-timbered facades, leaded glass windows, and slate roofs that look like they were airlifted from a Cotswolds village. George Francis Willis designed the planned community in 1924, modeling it after Stratford-upon-Avon. The downtown strip along North Avondale Road retains the original English village character nearly 100 years later. Willis also built a public swimming lake at the center of town.
